Catching up... If a man pays back evil for good, evil will
never leave his house. (Proverbs 17:13) For sure! Most humans are tempted
to pay back evil for evil. New Testament wisdom says, “Overcome evil with
good.”
A friend loves at all
times, and a brother is born for adversity. (Proverbs 17:17)
I suppose context means everything to proper understanding.
Without context the following seem to oppose one another: A bribe is a charm to the one who gives it; wherever he turns, he
succeeds. (Proverbs 17:8) A wicked
man accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the course of justice. (Proverbs
17:23)
